Tis’ the season for stylish boots, but do you have the perfect pair of skinny jeans to wear with those boots this winter? You may be one of those who say, “I can’t wear skinny jeans.” But I’ve found the perfect pair of skinny jeans every woman at least needs to try. You’ll never guess where I found them. Wait for it…Anthropologie.

I’ve never owned a pair of Adriano Goldschmied (AG)  jeans. In fact, I don’t even shop at Anthropologie that often. Recently, I went to Anthropologie to purchase a gift for a friend and unexpectedly walked out with a gift for myself instead – the most adorable and COMFORTABLE pair of skinny jeans.

These AG Rosebud skinny jeans have an elastic waist (yes, at first I felt as if I were buying maternity jeans) and are made of a soft jean fabric that will not stretch or shrink. The jeans are intended to feel more like tights than jeans. And they do. Of course, I felt a bit guilty for splurging on myself ($128!) when the purpose of the shopping trip was to find a gift for someone else. However, I got over it rather quickly as my younger girlfriends raved about the jeans when I later tried them on (of course I needed their opinions to validate my decision as these jeans are a bit unique). And I knew I’d wear them a lot as I now had found a pair of skinny jeans I feel sexy and comfortable wearing!

So, ladies (even those of you who say you “can’t wear skinny jeans”), I think it’s worth a trip to Anthropologie to try them on! They don’t appear to be featured on the Anthropologie website, but you can find them here. Take a pair of boots with you to get the full effect (it makes a big difference when trying on skinny jeans in a store) and grab one size larger than what you’d normally wear as they run a bit small. After slipping into them, I think you’ll look in the mirror and leave the store with a treat for yourself or a new item to add to your Christmas list this year!

I recently visited Argentina over Thanksgiving. While I was eating my fourth “jamon y queso” empenada late at night after a concert, I jokingly asked how Argentinian women stay so thin when they are surrounded by the most delicious empenadas, pizza and postres 24/7?

I didn’t expect a response to my comment. However, to my surprise, I learned that eating disorders are a national “epidemic” in Argentina. The country has the  second-highest rate of anorexia and bulimia in the world (after Japan), with statistics suggesting that one in ten women suffer from an eating disorder.

More interestingly, I learned that in December 2005, Argentina  passed legislation (i.e. “law of sizes”) in Buenos Aires to help reduce the prevalence of eating disorders. The law requires retailers to stock a full range of clothing sizes for women as many women were starving themselves to fit into microscopic clothing sold in shopping malls and boutiques. Many women have said it’s still difficult to find clothes that fit despite the new legislation.
