Heidi Montag Flaunts “Her Girls” Wearing Risque Dress on Jay Leno

March 22, 2010 2 comments

Heidi Montag, a Colorado native and known for her role in the MTV series “The Hills,” appeared as a guest on Jay Leno’s “Tonight Show” Friday, talking about her recent spoof video “Say No to Plastic” for Funny or Die (check it out here) as well as her new role in Ron Howard’s upcoming comedy “Just Go With It,” starring Jennifer Aniston, Adam Sandler and Nicole Kidman. Really? Now she’s landing movie gigs?

Heidi Montag on the Cover of February 2010 People MagazineFor those who’ve been in the dark or haven’t seen the February issue of People Magazine, Montag (age 23) recently underwent ten plastic surgery procedures in one day. Interestingly enough, she told Leno on Friday that she’s not addicted to plastic surgery since an addiction “is something you do every day.” When asked by Leno if there’s anything else she would change, she said, “I would get [my breasts] bigger, but I legally can’t right now.” Apparently, there’s a 800 cc limit, and she’s had 700. Leno also asked if it’s painful, in which she responded, “It’s excruciating, but beauty is pain. That’s what they say.”

I couldn’t disagree more with the girl. Beauty shouldn’t be painful, nor is she a good example of beauty. The Heidi Montag from Crested Butte, CO, prior to the Hollywood scene, was much more beautiful. Check out the interview below (and her risque dress that she designed just for Jay). Warning: This interview is somewhat painful to watch.

Kimchi Blue Suede Boots On Sale for $29.99 at Urban Outfitters

Pile of Sale Shoes at Urban Outfitters

Late Saturday evening, I stopped by Urban Outfitters (in Denver) on my way home from a friend’s house (after watching Kansas lose to Northern Iowa in the NCAA tournament!) to find that Urban had cute boots on sale for only $29.99. After only briefly digging through a massive pile of sale shoes (see photo), I unburied the below pair of cute tall suede boots from Kimchi Blue, which I thought would be of interest to those ladies still looking to grab a pair of tall suede boots this season.

Exclusive to Urban Outfitters, this suede boot has a high-stacked 3″ heel, buckle strap at the top and a cushioned footbed. They’re on sale from $100 to $29.99  (in stores only) and are available in grey (see below), chocolate brown, khaki and black. I also found this boot online at UrbanOutfitters.com, but online it’s $49.99 and only available in chocolate. This boot fits perfectly around the calf – not too tight or too loose. So if you’re still looking to snag a pair of tall suede boots to wear with skinny jeans or dresses this season, you may want drop by your local Urban Outfitters and take a peak. Although I found boots in sizes 6, 7, 8 and 10, sizes are limited.

Donate a Dress and Get Something New at Saks Fifth Avenue

Now’s the time to dig up those ol’ formal dresses collecting dust in your closet and put them to good use. Saks Fifth Avenue has partnered with DonateMyDress.org, a national campaign designed to collect prom and special occasion dresses from around the country to donate to girls who can’t afford the costs of going to their prom, sweet 16 or other formal dance.

Girl Shopping for Formal Dresses

Now through March 31, Saks Fifth Avenue is collecting formal dresses in its stores nationwide. The dresses will be donated to underprivileged girls to wear to prom through local dress drive chapters of DonateMyDress.org. Besides knowing you’ve helped a young girl, there’s also something in it for you. When you donate a gently worn special occasion dress, you’ll get 20% off a new evening or party dress for yourself (or for your sister or daughter who might need a new prom dress this year).

If you live in Denver, take your dress to the Saks Fifth Avenue in Cherry Creek and ask for fellow StyleVise member Jenee Rick in evening wear. She’ll take good care of you. All dresses collected at the Saks Fifth Avenue in Denver will be donated to ARC Thrift Stores.

Offer details: 20% offer valid on full-priced merchandise only when you donate a gently worn special occasion dress. One per customer. Cannot be combined with any other offer. Not valid on Saks.com. Select styles only. See an associate for details. No adjustments to prior purchases.

Lifestyle Changes You Can Make To Combat Wrinkles

March 12, 2010 Leave a comment

Let’s face it, aging is a natural process, and it isn’t exactly something we look forward to. Thanks to dermatologists Katie Rodan and Kathy Fields, below are  a few proactive measures you can take to help keep your skin looking youthful.

Young Woman Wearing SunglassesRollover onto your back
Do you sleep on your side or stomach? Over time, pillow creases can become permanently tattooed into your skin. Train yourself to get off your side and sleep on your back, so you don’t advance wrinkles while getting your beauty rest.

Kick the smoking habit to the curb
Smoking can result in sagging, dull and course skin as it breaks down collagen, impairs wound healing and restricts blood vessels.

Skip the straw
This one is a biggie for me as I prefer drinking most beverages from a straw. However, I wasn’t aware that the puckering associated with drinking from a straw can cause increased wrinkling around the lips.

Wear some shades
No matter if it’s gloomy outside, sunglasses are a must everyday. It’s your best defense against crow’s feet. Many also suggest using an eye cream after age 20.

And of course, slather on sunscreen!
Wear sunscreen daily (no matter the weather). And make sure your sunscreen shields against UVA and UVB rays.

Woman Grooms Bikini Area While Driving and Crashes

Photo of Women Who Crashed Car While Shaving Bikini AreaA Florida woman, Megan Barnes, wasn’t driving while intoxicated, on her cell phone or texting. Nope. She was driving while shaving her bikini area. Allegedly, she was on her way to visit her boyfriend. She must have been in dire need of some “landscaping.” With her ex-husband steering the car from the passenger seat (which is even more odd), she crashed into the back of a pickup truck.

Barnes was already driving with a suspended license, just one day after she was convicted of driving under the influence. She had been ordered to impound her car, her license was revoked for five years, and she had been placed on probation for nine months. Thankfully, nobody was hurt. Although, it’s possible she may have some razor burn. Ladies, please refrain from taming your mane in the car.

Payless Shoes To Launch Beauty Line in September

March 8, 2010 Leave a comment

Payless ShoeSource LogoPayless ShoeSource plans to launch a line of 60 beauty and body products in 1,500 of its 4,500 stores in September 2010. The retailer has partnered with a beauty company (Maesa Group) to develop products under two existing brand names already sold in Payless stores: Zoe and Zac (eco-friendly shoes and accessories) and Unforgettable Moments (a collection of dyeable bridal shoes).

The line will consist of lotions, creams, butters, shower gels, fragrances, nail polish and lip and eye colors, starting at $2.99. The company decided to launch a beauty line after a successful expansion of its accessories line in 2009 (i.e. sunglasses, hats, hand bags and scarves).

I’m curious as to how this new beauty line will differ from the many other discount lines currently sold in drugstores. For some reason, Wet n Wild immediately comes to mind when I think of this new beauty line offered by Payless. What are your thoughts? Would you buy makeup at Payless?
